Abstract Highly spin polarized electron beams produced from GaAs photocathodes within DC high voltage photoguns have been critical to many accelerator-based nuclear and particle physics experiments. This chapter describes photoemission GaAs, the main requirements for constructing a source, techniques control measure polarization of beam.
